I began practicing yoga to counteract the effects of commuting to Washington D.C. The long days left me over-tired, under-exercised and sleep deprived. On the advice of my doctor, I began practicing yoga 2-3 days a week. I became calmer, less fretful about little things, more responsive and less reactive. I had fewer aches and pains, slept better and felt stronger.

Curious about how and why yoga was helping, I completed my RYT/200 teacher training at Art of Balance Yoga in 2018. This training further fueled my quest to discover more about the philosophy and history of this ancient practice and I completed my RYT/500 teacher training at Beloved Yoga (Reston, VA) in December, 2020.

As a teacher I love combining the physical asana practices with meditation and breathwork, gentle humor and the use of props for building confidence. My goal for every class is to provide a safe space for students to explore their own unique vision of their yoga practice.

Always a yoga student, I hold additional certifications in Yoga for Osteoporosis (40 hours), Accessible Yoga (35 hours), Trauma Informed Yoga (30 hours), Pranayama (20 hours) and Yin Yoga (20 hours). I am certified to teach Mindful Resilience by the Veterans Yoga Project and am a member of the Veterans Yoga Teacher Alliance. I am an AFAA Group Fitness Instructor and an NASM Senior Fitness Specialist.
